After the last Hotspot 4. in which the race became very tough, and many late pigeons arrived, we understand that as preparation for HOTSPOT 5, which we intend to do at the next friday 13, it would be beneficial to do a training with few km, to give confidence to the pigeons for the return to the loft.
We understand that with the period of activations going on, wouldn't be doing the training, but we understand that it is necessary for pigeons.
So tomorrow Tuesday 10 September , we’ll be doing a 40/50 km training, wit basketing tonight.
We further report that if there are changes to any team with fewer pigeons , or any already activated pigeon is not in the basketing list for Hotspot 5, , we will return the money paid.

ACTIVATION TIMES FOR PIGEON OWNERS - from 4th September to 10th September
- After HOTSPOT 4 and before HOTSPOT 5, all teams that have more than 2 pigeons per team, and want the 3rd, 4th or fifth pigeon to participate and win prizes in HOTSPOT 5, 6 and Final need to activate them for a additional 500 Euros for each pigeon, until September 10th.
ACTIVATION TIME FOR THIRD PARTIES (ANYONE) - from September 25th to September 30th
- Pigeons not activated by their owners until September 10th, for HOTSPOT 5,6 and FINAL, can be activated by anyone else, for the FINAL RACE for an additional €750 after HOTSPOT 6 (from September 25th to 30th) and who will have all rights to the pigeon from this date onwards, being entitled to the prizes he wins, and %% when sold at auction (35%),
TEAMS WITH INITIAL REGISTRATION NOT PAID

GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2024- HOTSPOT 3- MONFORTE, 207km- INFORMATION
- After consulting our meteorologist, Captain Fernando Garrido, and analyzing the weather forecast for this week, in order to schedule the 50km training and Hotspot 3, we came to the conclusion that the best day to hold Hotspot 3 will be Wednesday, August 28th, as rain and thunderstorms are expected in the release area and surroundings on Friday, August 30th.
- Checking the condition of the pigeons in the loft, and holding the 3rd Hotspot on the 28th, it was understood that the pigeons are fine, have recovered well, and the last pigeons to arrive received special attention in order to recover quickly.
- Although we understand that it would be good for the pigeons to rest for longer time, but between having it on Wednesday, August 28th, with good weather and waiting until Friday, August 30th and not being able to release the pigeons, or it could become a very difficult race, it was decided to hold Hotspot 3, on Wednesday, August 28th, with the release in Monforte, 207km, where the minimum temperature will be 15º and the maximum 33º.
- We regret that we cannot meet the scheduled dates, but the weather is unstable, as it is either high temperatures, or rain and thunderstorms, and so we have to manage the race day by day, or week by week.

1st HOTSPOT/ ACE PIGEON 2024 - August 13th - Monte Trigo 136km
We would like to inform you that after analyzing, together with the meteorologist, the weather conditions for this week, we found that tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13th, is the best day of the week with minimum temperatures of 17º and maximum temperatures of 31º at the release place, and on the way to the pigeon loft, so we will carry out the release in Monte Trigo, 136 km.

Some cloudiness is expected in the morning, so the release is scheduled for around 8.30 am, but temperatures at that time will still be 19/20º.

As the first HOTSPOT / OFFICIAL RACE and ACE PIGEON was scheduled for the 16th of August, and it will not be possible to release pigeons in the next 7/8 days due to the large increase in minimum temperatures of 21º and maximum temperatures of 40º in the entire area scheduled for the next releases, we will hold the first HOTSPOT / OFFICIAL RACE AND ACE PIGEON of 2024 tomorrow.

We inform you that after consulting the weather conditions for the next few days, we found that the best day to carry out the 8th training session in 2024 is tomorrow, Friday the 9th of August 2024, with release in Beja, 100km.
-The maximum temperature predicted for tomorrow in the release area and loft is 38º, but as the sky will be clear, and we intend to release at 7 am the temperature will still be 18º, with 25º at 9am and 32º at 11am.
- As we expect that the first pigeons will take around 1.20 hours to arrive at the loft, and that all the pigeons will arrive in a maximum of 2 hours, the temperatures are not ideal, but they are acceptable for the release.

START OF TRAINING 2024

We inform you that we will start training for 2024 next Tuesday, July 16th, with basketing on Monday night, with the following changes in relation to previous years;

The pigeons will be released in 3 parts with around +- 2430 pigeons at a time,  15 minuts separated,  as we have seen that in previous years when the pigeons have been released all together (around 7000) the pigeons have had difficulty leaving the release site, as When several flocks form, the pigeons begin to circle around and do not leave. We don't know if this is right, but we're going to try this year in the first 3 training sessions to release in 3 parts, first the right side of the truck, then the left side, and then the 2nd truck.
We will film live the releases and arrival of the pigeon at loft, but there will be no classifications, as you will understand.

PEDIGREES

REGULATIONS
- Pigeon owners will be able to activate RESERVE pigeons for the semi-final and final, until September 16, 2023, upon payment of €500 per pigeon.
- In the semi-final Castelo Branco 300km, and final Bragança 500km, only ACTIVATED pigeons are entitled to prizes.
- RESERVE pigeons that are not activated by their owners until September 16, 2023, participate in the Castelo Branco semi-final - 300 km, but without the right to prizes.
- The pigeons that return from the Castelo Branco semi-final may be activated by third parties (anyone) until September 24, 2023, to participate in the Bragança-500km final, which will have full rights over the pigeon, being entitled to the prizes won from of this date, and %% in auction sales (35%). An earthquake with magnitude 2.6 on the Richter scale was recorded today at 3:47 pm in the Évora area, reported the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The 8th training session of 2023 took place on Saturday the 19th of August, with release in Amareleja, close to the border with Spain, as fog and low clouds were expected in the more central area of country. GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE- MILLION EURO PIGEONS RACE.

- 8TH TRAINING 2023- SATURDAY AUGUST 19- 115KM
With an increase in temperatures expected for the next week, for the area scheduled for the releases, and being in daily contact with the Meteorologist, Org AGR decided to carry out the next training session tomorrow, Saturday, August 19th, since the pigeons were not subjected to great effort in the last training, and recovered well.
The release is scheduled for a distance of between 115 and 120 km, as only tomorrow morning will we know exactly the best place for the release, as low clouds and some fog are expected in some areas where the release may occur, with indications that it may there will be some areas without, or with little morning fog.
So let's basket the pigeons tonight and try to release them tomorrow.

The Release of the 7th training was scheduled for Beja, 100 km, but when we arrived at the release place, we verified the existence of low clouds and some fog in the area. After waiting some time at the place, we found that despite there being some wind, the clouds and fog were not decreasing, so after contacting the meteorologist we decided to move the trucks to another location, where it would be possible to carry out the release.
The release was carried out in Vale Açor, 80km away, and the pigeons left the area quickly after being released, as there was good visibility.
The pigeons arrived at the loft, first in a large group, then in small groups.

On Sunday, August 13, the sixth training session of 2023 took place with the release of pigeons in Mertola, at a distance of 50 km.
We chose to release it in the same place as the previous training session, as the previous one was a difficult training one, we understood that to give confidence to the pigeons, we should not go too far.
The release was made at 7.30 am, with clear skies and northwest wind and with a temperature of 18 degrees, which by 11 am would reach 25 degrees, which was very good for the month of August in Portugal.
The pigeons after the release were divided into several groups, as has happened in previous releases, and once again a group of pigeons spent some time flying in the area, only leaving the release site some time later.
The arrival took place in several groups, large and small.

EN- 6th TRAINING 2023 VALE AÇOR- 75KM CANCELED

The 6th training session of 2023 was scheduled for tomorrow, the 9th of August 2023, but after contact with the official meteorologist, and due to the atmospheric conditions forecast for tomorrow with a minimum temperature of 23º and a maximum of 43º, it is not possible to carry out the training, leaving canceled until conditions are good, which is expected to happen from next Saturday, August 12th.
We also inform you that if the temperatures allowed us to carry out the training, this would not be possible as we currently have 15 large fires in Portugal, and 1 of the largest at about 80 km from the loft, which causes the air to be polluted with smoke and sparks, which also would not allow training.
As soon as possible we will inform about the realization of the Vale de Açor training

 Fifth training 2023 with release in Mertola 50 km.
Yesterday the fifth training 2023 took place with the release of pigeons in Mertola, at a distance of 50 km. The release was held at 7.30 am, with clear skies and zero wind and with a temperature of 21 degrees, which we knew would rise quickly and that by 9 am it would already be 28 degrees, but normaly the pigeons would be by that time in the loft , as we estimated a 40-minute flight.
Happened that after the release, the various groups that formed quickly left the place, except for a group of about 1000 pigeons that continued to circle around the release place, not being able to orientate themselves for a long time, and that with the increase in temperature, which during the day reached 38 degrees, led to many not returning to the loft.
We are now recovering the returnees well, and studying how to manage out the next training sessions because next week temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees.
We will inform you of the decisions we make.

INFORMATION ABOUT BASKETING FOR TRAININGS.

The Golden Race Organization informs that due to the high temperatures expected for the next training sessions, and with the high number of pigeons to be basketed in Benzing, basketing lasts several hours, as well as we want to basket the pigeons as late as possible, when it's less hot, we can't be passing the pigeons through the basket one by one in the benzing, and we don't see any interest in that, because all the pigeons that are in the loft have a chip assigned, so they will register on arrival.
So in training, we will basket the pigeons directly into the transport boxes, and all the pigeons that go to training, when they arrive, register in the arrivals benzing system.

We also inform you that when the official HOT SPOTS races start, on August 25th, the pigeons will no longer be basketed directly into the transport boxes, and all will be basketed and registered in the benzing system one by one.

FIRST TRAINNING 2023 AERODROME 3 KM
Today, the first training session of 2023 took place at an Aerodrome, 3 km from the loft.
- The training helped the pigeons to get used to the baskets, to being inside the truck one night and being released for the first time without being in the loft.
- Some pigeons flew just a few minutes, others a little longer, and arrived in large groups at the loft.
- Thus began the learning process on the way to the Bragança Grand Final on 30 September 2023.

After we finish assigning the benzing chips to all the pigeons that were in the loft on the 14th of July, we publish the list.
In the first training we will check all the washers, to see if any pigeons lost in the first flights around the loft have returned, and we will assign a benzing chip.
Unfortunately, of the 7,307 registered pigeons, and after the quarantine period, vaccinations, preventive treatments and the first flights around the loft, 407 pigeons will not start training, which we regret, but we did our best, so 6,900 are ready to start the long walk to the Bragança final on September 30, 2023.
Personal accounts will be updated in the next 2 days with pigeons and money payable and paid.
Because the AGR does not show the pigeons' ring number, only the pigeon's name and code, participants can LOGIN to their account, to see which ring corresponds to the code visible in Benzing.

Once the entries of pigeons for the edition of the Golden race Algarve- Million Euro Pigeon Race 2023 at the end of May were completed, the entire office team was focused on registering the pigeons in Benzing, so that we could publish the entered pigeons.
As happens every year, hundreds of pigeons arrive at the loft without any kind of information, and then we don't know who the owners are, and after contacting the agents of the countries where the pigeons are from, we still can't identify the owners of some pigeons.
These 97 pigeons are in the benzing with the team name 11111UNKNOWN , so we ask all participants to check if any of these pigeons belong to them.

Good luck to everyone and here we are to welcome your pigeons and give everyone the same opportunity.

The pigeons entered in the loft in March from several countries, were placed in lofts separated by country of transport, and after having been vaccinated, and undergoing preventive treatments and they are now leaving for the small voliere to get used to the area surrounding. In a few days the big volleys will be placed to start the phase of leaving the loft for the green, and later to start the first flights.
Pigeons that enter in April and May will follow the same procedures and the pigeons in March, April and May will only join in the beginning of July, as we have a separate immunization.

We are now ready to receive April pigeons.
