PROGRAM FINAL UPDATED
GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2026 - INFORMATION ABOUT SEMI-FINAL RELEASE AND DECISION ABOUT BASKETING FOR THE FINAL.
The semi-final release was scheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd, but due to the high temperatures forecast for that day, the organization decided to postpone it to Friday the 25th, because the weather forecast indicated a drop in temperatures of 4/5 degrees, which would allow for better conditions for the release.
We therefore decided to release them in Monfortinho, 318km away, on Friday the 25th, releasing them as early as possible, at 7:50 am.
It turned out that the predicted drop in temperatures did not happen, but even so, and after careful analysis, we realized that by releasing them early, the pigeons would pass through the warmer area, which is the Alentejo plains, about 100/150 km from Monte Gordo, at times when the temperature would still be acceptable for the pigeons to fly.
It turned out that when the pigeons tried to pass through the Alentejo area, the temperatures were already very high, and with the many lakes and the dam in the area, the pigeons landed to drink.
We thought that on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning many more pigeons would return to the loft, but that didn't happen, because in those areas there are thousands of free-range pigeons that form large flocks around the lakes and dams, and ours must have mixed in and stayed there.
We think that's what happened, although we're not absolutely sure.
We're now going to properly recover well, those that have already arrived so that they are in good condition for the final.
DECISION REGARDING BASKETING FOR THE FINAL
We have made the following decision, to give the pigeons one more day in the loft for better recovery, which is to basket the pigeons on Friday, October 2, from 2 PM to 5 PM. This allows for transport to Bragança for approximately 9 hours, arriving at the release point at 2/3 AM, which allows the pigeons to rest at the release point for about 5 hours, and also to drink.
Thank you for your understanding.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEMI-FINAL GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2026
The semi-final, 6th Hotspot 2026, was scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 23rd. However, due to the high temperatures at the release point, on the way, and upon the pigeons' arrival at the loft, with very high maximum temperatures reaching 38º/39º, it is impossible to carry out the release under these conditions. According to information from the meteorologist, temperatures will drop from Friday, September 25th, which will allow the semi-final release to take place.
We will therefore monitor the weather forecast and hope that temperatures will be lower so that we can carry out the semi-final release on Friday the 25th, with basketing the night before.

GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2026
INFORMATION ABOUT THE 5TH HOTSPOT 2026
- Initially, the release was scheduled to take place in Castelo Branco (296 km away), but with the news that emerged overnight of many fires throughout the country, and especially in the Castelo Branco area, the GRA Organization decided to hold the release in Niza (269 km away). This is because the last Hotspot only covered 196 km, and with the existing fires, we didn't know how the pigeons would behave, as they might have to fly longer to get away from the smoke, and with the increase in daytime temperatures, there would be many losses.
Thank you for your understanding.

GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2026 - Information
Due to the deadline for activating Reserve pigeons only ending last Sunday, we only had Monday and Tuesday to receive, check, confirm payments, and make the changes in the Benzing from Reserve to Active, which is insufficient time, as we have basketing today, Tuesday, for the 5th Hotspot, and there may have been some error with so much information arriving in such a short time, as follows:
- only pigeons that have AA or A1 before the pigeon's name are activated, and only these win prizes.
- as previously stated, there may have been some error on our part, so any complaint will be accepted if the activation payment has been received in our bank by 12 pm today, Tuesday.
- Pigeons that are not activated or paid for, with the letter R before their name, after Hotspot 6, are free to be purchased for the final race by anyone, owner or not, for the price of €750 (VAT included vat 23%), who then acquires all rights to the pigeon, any prizes it may win, and a percentage of any auction sale

INFORMATION ABOUT THE 1ST HOTSPOT 2026 - 138 KM
The 1st Hotspot 2026 took place yesterday with a release at 138km. Due to the fog, it was not possible to release very early, and the release was carried out at 9:20 am.
- The pigeons started arriving at the loft at 10:45 am.
- At 6:14 pm, the pigeon with the 4718th ranking arrived, and in this moment the clock stopped registering pigeons.
- Despite all efforts, it was only possible to restart the clock and register pigeons at 10:00 pm.
- Many pigeons arrived during the afternoon yesterday, but were not registered in the Benzing system.
- The pigeons registered in the benzing today, Sunday, August 16th, are pigeons that arrived today, because as it is hunting day we did not release the pigeons.
- Tomorrow, Monday, the pigeons will be released for a bath and a free day, and then when they enter in the loft , the pigeons that arrived yesterday after 6:14 PM will be registered.
- Due to this unforeseen event, the ORG GRA decided the following:
- The prizes in dispute in this Hotspot remain, as there was no interference in the classification of the top 100.
- This Hotspot will not count to the Ace Pigeon.
We regret the incident.

ENTRY LIST GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE 2026- UPDATED JULY 10
We updated the entries in the 2026 pigeon loft, we did the best we could and knew how, and after a period of quarantine, vaccination, preventive treatments, and the process of first flights around the loft, some did not survive, which we regret.
The pigeons that do not have an assigned chip number are because they are not in the loft.

MESSAGE FROM RUI EMIDIO.
Dear friends, after the Pigeon Racing Fair in Kassel, Germany in November 2025, when I decided to undergo surgery to remove a small stone (1cm) in my bladder, I thought that in 15 days I would be fully recovered and ready to prepare for the 2026 Golden Race and the 2025 auctions. Unfortunately, the first surgery did not go well, which led to a second, and incredibly, I even had to undergo a third and a fourth surgery to correct something that had not gone well in the previous one. So, I have been hospitalized for about 4 months, but now in a phase of full recovery, which allows me to think that within days I will be working on the 2026 Golden Race. I have hear that there have been some problems with the delivery of pigeons from the auctions, so I will try to find out exactly what happened and resolve any possible pending situations. I regret not being able to respond to those who contacted me by phone, WhatsApp or Facebook, all last months, but our email service was always available. Thank you to the entire Golden Race team who made my work possible. Thank you and see you soon.

After analyzing the weather conditions for the coming days together with the meteorologist, and despite the current heat, the best day to hold the 4th Hotspot 250 km is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th, because the temperatures are good for releasing the pigeons in the morning, and rise considerably after 12 pm, but we expect that by that time, the pigeons will already be in the loft.
Basketing is tonight.
In this 4th Oficial race , there will be online classifications at the Benzing sistem.
Pigeons will be basketed one by one in benzing sistem.

GOLDEN RACE ALGARVE - INFORMATION SEMIFINAL 2025
After Hotspot 5, which was a very difficult race due to high temperatures, and then, without us knowing why, the pigeons had difficulty leaving the release area. About half of them left quickly, and the other half remained in circles for a long time, which caused fatigue. Then, with the high temperatures, many had difficulty and were unable to reach the loft. We regret this.
Over the past few days, the pigeons have been undergoing a recovery program, and we believe they are ready for the SEMI-FINAL, Hotspot 6, which we plan to hold next Tuesday, September 23rd.
Thank you for your understanding.

- The third training session for 2025 will take place tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2025, at a distance of 30km.
- As in the first two training sessions, the release was conducted in three parts, allowing the pigeons to get used to flying to the loft with fewer pigeons, which allowed for better orientation.
- The third training session will feature a combined release of all pigeons.
- There will be finish classifications benzing, and the release and arrival of the pigeons will be filmed live on Facebook.
- Basketing will take place this Thursday evening due to the heat. - There will be no basketing in benzing pigeons one by one, so all arriving pigeons will be registered in the benzing classifications.

Since its starting, the Golden Race Algarve has been a charity project, having donated thousands of euros over the years to support the less fortunate in the municipality of Vila Real Stº Antonio, with support in various areas, from children's treatments, purchase of books, computers, support for various social solidarity institutions in the municipality, and other situations. The management of the Golden Race Algarve decided now to diversify its support in the municipality, with the donation of a Trishaw (electric bicycle with pedals), an investment of a few thousand euros, which will allow the Vila Real Stº Antonio City Council to ensure that the elderly who are in the municipality's homes, or in their own homes unable to go out, can now go out and go for a walk with a companion, throughout the city and surrounding areas.
